East Bank Tour

East Bank Tour

The jewels of the Nile’s East Bank. This guided tour shines a light on the Karnak and Luxor Temples, the home of many ancient Egyptian Festivals.

The Temple of Luxor was the centre of the most important one, the festival of Opet. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramses II, the temple served as a setting for the rituals of the festival. Slap in the heart of the city, this gargantuan temple is eye-popping stuff. Stare up at its 80-foot obelisk and colossus of Ramses II before roaming its atmospheric chambers.

The tour continues on to the Temple of Karnak, erected in 1928 BC as a small shrine dedicated to Amun, the then god of Thebes. The temple includes three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples, all constructed over 1300 years and is now the largest and oldest compounded temple on earth. Get to grips with its vastness and gasp at the 134 pillars of its Hypostyle Hall - some are a staggering 21 metres high.

You’ll also walk its famous Avenues of the Sphinxes, which once linked it with Luxor Temple. When you’ve finished marvelling at the architecture and all your questions have been answered, your guide will take you back to your hotel.
