Explore the fascinating Icelandic wildlife from the ocean. Get your cameras ready and be on the lookout for Minke whales, Humpbacks, Harbour Porpoises and White-beaked Dolphins.

Love birds? You can also see the local gulls, the Arctic tern, the Gannet and of course – everybody’s favourite – the lovable Puffins.

A professional tour guide will point you to the famous sights of Iceland’s coast. With the expert’s help, you won’t miss the whales when they show up.

All of our whale watching tours have an educational and interactive side to them. See and touch real whale teeth and bones. Discover ocean specimens through a microscope. If you’re lucky, you might even be chosen to help the crew mark the sighting locations of the local whales!

Over 90% of the Whale Watching Tours report whale sightings, but if you’re in the small percentage that don’t meet any whales on the day, you’ll be offered to join another Whale Watching Tour for free.

Whale Watching Tour Options

In the summer months, you can jump on a speed boat for the Whale Watching Express Tour that will take you to the whales in less than 30 minutes. The whole experience lasts around 2½ hours.

Visiting in the winter months? The Whale Watching Winter Tour is the one for you! It takes 3½ hours but you’ll get plenty of time to take photos. Please note this tour is dependent on weather and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Weather and sea conditions can be unpredictable during the winter months, therefore boat captains will make their decision to sail based on passenger safety and comfort.

Please note that there are traffic restrictions within the centre of Reykjavik that restricts pick-ups from certain hotels and guesthouses. Guests at these hotels must therefore wait at the corresponding bus stops that are usually less than a 5 minute walk away. Please see the link in the transport tab to see if your accommodation is affected.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that while children 0-6 are free of charge on this tour we will need to reserve a place for them, so please remember to let us know how many children are travelling and how old they are.

When you’ve Booked: You’ll receive an initial confirmation from us immediately. We will then send your booking details to the supplier within 48 hours to request confirmation. Once they confirm that your requested date and ticket is available, we will email your confirmation which will include the local operator’s contact details and any relevant information.
